This luxurious Polynesian hideaway is located in Papetoai, on the Northwest coast of Moorea.  With its back drop of volcanic peaks and outlook over the crystal blue waters of the lagoon, the resort has a truly wonderful tropical setting. The Intercontinental Moorea has just completed a muti-million dollar rebuilding and refurbishment programme and re-opened for guests on 1st July 2010. They have built a fantastic, new 360sqm infinity pool at the top of the main beach with a smaller 75sqm pool above the main one.  Both new pools have specatacular views of the lagoon over the beach.  The original pool area has been landscaped into a spacious terrace and part of this is an outdoor extension to the refurbished Fare Hana Restaurant. 

 

Accommodation ranges from air conditioned hotel rooms, garden or beach bungalows and over water bungalows.   All accommodation rooms and bungalows have been upgraded and refurbished and all are furnished and decorated to the highest standards. The garden bungalows have an extended private terrace with their own plunge pool, beach bungalows have an extended deck area and the overwater bungalows have new pontoons with direct access to the water.  All rooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans, ensuite facilities with separate showers, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, refrigerator with mini-bar, complimentary tea & coffee facilities, iron & ironing board, in room safe, ADD telephone, Cable TV,

ADSL high speed Internet access and private terrace or deck with sun furniture.

 

There are 2 Restaurants to choose from at the Intercontinental Moorea.  The Fare Nui offers a gourmet menu and extensive wine list, with views over the new pool and the lagoon beyond.  The Fare Hana has a more informal feel with lighter fare, either inside or outside on the new extended pool terrace. The pool terrace is also where you will find the Motu-Iti Bar, where you can sample cocktails, and watch Polynesian shows and live music, or just sit and watch the sun go down with drink in hand.  

 

Once a week, there is also a 'Soiree Barbecue' on the beach, with grilled meat and local fish with salads and fresh island fruits.

   

For the more energetic, you can make use of the fitness centre and the Kids Club or choose from a range of activities and land and water sports, such as tennis, 4X4 excursions, diving, snorkeling and kayaking.  The hotel is the Tahitian home of the Pacific Dolphin research foundation and the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Centre,  where you can experience the wonder of swimming with the dolphins, or see wild turtles close up - an experience not to be missed and one never forgotten.
